Our professional staff carefully select and maintain our collections through the use of guidelines and criteria established and approved by our Board. While we do accept book, audiobook, and DVD donations, the following criteria apply:
- At a minimum, donated materials must be in very good condition. Excellent or like new is preferred.
- We do not accept encyclopedias or newspapers.
- DVDs and CD audio books are in high demand. We will no longer accept VHS, cassettes, or any other analog media.
- Our focus is on popular materials. Academic journals and text are not needed.
- Any items not placed into our collections will be sold to the public either in the library or via our online bookseller, Better World Books
Your donation is most important in helping the Troup-Harris Regional Library satisfy our mission of providing lifelong learning, literacy support, and entertaining programming to our communities. Only a portion of our funding comes from governmental agencies. The library relies on corporate sponsorships, our Friends of the Library groups, and of course individual donors such as yourself.
THRL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. We will ensure that all gifts will be used to support the library’s mission and vision. For more information about supporting the library please email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call us at 706-884-7784. Thank you for your generous support, and for helping us to sustain services on behalf of the Troup and Harris communities.
Become A Volunteer
The Troup-Harris Public Library is proud of its dedicated group of volunteers. You too can join our elite corps of helping hands! You will make a big difference in the quality of library service in your community by sharing your time and talents. Volunteering will offer you benefits, by providing the opportunity to build needed job skills and references, to satisfy community service requirements, or simply to stay active, help people, and keep up with the latest books and programs.
There is an ongoing need at all locations for help sorting and shelving materials, checking books in and out, shelf reading, computer assistance, tutoring, and helping with special projects. Many volunteers come with ideas of their own on how they might improve services, and we’d like to hear yours! You’ll receive the training you need, and work side by side with staff in every library activity.
